We are delighted to welcome Marie Wilkening-Le Brun to our List.
Marie was admitted to practice in 2005 in Victoria and in 2002 in England and Wales, and she was called to the Bar in 2007. She has extensive experience in family law, civil and commercial law, including bankruptcy and insolvency.
Marie has appeared in all areas of family law including interim hearings, trials, and mediations. Her expertise includes:
– Children’s matters, including interstate and international relocations
– Hague Convention applications on international child abduction
– Complex matters involving family violence
– Cases involving parents and children with disabilities
– Applications on behalf of grandparents
– Representation of Independent Children’s Lawyers
– Recovery and contravention applications
– Intervention Orders (IVOs) in the Magistrates’ Court
– Property matters such as equitable and family trusts, international assets, inheritances, financial agreements, and spousal maintenance applications
Marie served as President of the French Australian Lawyers Society from its inception in 2014 to 2020 and currently acts as a legal advisor to the French Honorary Consul in Victoria. In 2022, she was awarded the “Ordre National de Merite” by the French President for her significant legal contributions to the French community in Australia and her leadership in the Society. She has mentored numerous law students and graduates from France.
Marie was a finalist in the Barrister of the Year category of the Australian Lawyers Weekly Awards in both 2022 and 2023. She continues to serve as a committee member of the French Australian Lawyers Society.
