Congratulations to Heather Anderson recently selected to participate in Victoria Legal Aid’s Trial Counsel Development Program.
Heather has extensive experience in criminal law in Victoria, and Western Australia, and became an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law with the Law Institute of Victoria in 2018 following an examination process.
Heather regularly appears in all types of summary and indictable crime hearings including committal hearings, contested hearings, bail applications and pleas in the Magistrates’ Court and in sentencing appeals, breach proceedings, pleas, and bail applications in the County Court. Heather appears in all metropolitan and regional courts in Victoria. Heather also accepts briefs in quasi-criminal matters including intervention orders, criminal compensation, and supervision orders under the Serious Sex Offenders (Detention and Supervision) Act.
Heather practiced as a Solicitor Advocate at leading criminal law firms Leanne Warren & Associates and David Barrese & Associates from 2016. In these roles, Heather had carriage of a large volume of indictable and summary crime matters including murder, sex offences, armed robbery, assaults, and drugs. Heather also instructed in County Court and Supreme Court trials and assisted counsel with drafting written cases for the Court of Appeal.
The TCDP is designed to deliver unique training opportunities to selected Junior Counsel by partnering them with senior trial advocates in criminal trials each year.
Holmes List has had a number of past and present members participate in the program, either as a senior mentor or as junior counsel.
We are proud to have Heather represent us this year and wish her all the best throughout the program.
