Stephen has successfully represented local, national and international companies in OHS prosecutions. This area of representation includes cases involving: crane erection and operation, abattoirs, food preparation, guarding, fall from heights, amusement structures, bullying and trenching operations.

Stephen represented the EPA in the prosecution against the companies and directors involved in the Corkman Hotel destruction and the companies involved in the Hazelwood coal mine fire. He successfully defended an amusement company in an OHS prosecution and the company prosecuted for the Southbank crane collapse that closed the nearby freeway. Stephen represented the mine and mine managers in the Beaconsfield mine disaster inquest and special investigation.

Stephen represents parties in other matters including:

  • AFL Tribunal- representing the Collingwood Football Club.

 

  • Royal Commission – advising the Department of Sustainability and Environment concerning the Black Saturday fires.

 

  • Coronial Inquests in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland– representing companies and individuals regarding fatalities involving OHS issues.

 

  • Food Act prosecutions and OHS prosecutions on behalf of national and international companies.
