Shane has been at the Victorian Bar coalface for the last two and a half decades, practising in all forms of criminal law cases, intervention orders, coroners inquests, confiscation proceedings, IBAC proceedings, compulsory examinations and occupational health and safety matters.
He has appeared in excess of 4000 cases including matters in the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court trials (multiple murder and manslaughter trials), pleas, bail applications and confiscation hearings, County Court trials, pleas, bail applications and appeals, Magistrate’s court contests, directions hearings, mentions, pleas, bail applications, and committal hearings, as well as coronial inquests. He also occasionally appears in the NSW courts in their criminal jurisdiction.
Shane also appears regularly in Intervention orders relating to Family Violence and Personal Safety.
Over the past few years Shane has had the sole carriage of the defence in a number of high profile homicide trials and inquests including those colloquially known as;
“The baby in the car case”
“The daughter in law in the bag and the bin case”
“The Business partner in the pool inquest” and
” The merciful suicide of the father case”

Shane is a member of the VLA Preferred Barrister List and holds a current Indictable Crime Certificate (ICC).
