James Gates has been at the Bar since 1993. Originally practising in criminal law, family law and intervention order matters, for the last 18 years James now exclusively specialises in Family Law and the Intervention Order jurisdiction. James is regularly briefed as counsel in Family law  property mediations , with a high percentage success rate in achieving final settlements. James also appears in all interim and final hearings in both property and parenting matters in Divisions 1 and 2 of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, where he has developed a reputation for skilful cross-examination.
