Stephen’s career has been exclusively as a criminal defence practitioner, initially as a principal in a firm of solicitors specialising in criminal defence, pleas and bail applications across the entire spectrum of drug and associated offences under State and Commonwealth law.
While continuing to handle drug matters, his practice at the Bar has expanded to include offences of violence, property offences, fraud, both individual and corporate, continuing criminal enterprise offending, driving involving death or serious injury and dealing with proceeds of crime.
He was a member of a team of counsel from the Victorian Bar engaged in a trial of a number of asylum seekers in the Republic of Nauru charged with riot and unlawful assembly in Australia’s detention centre.
Stephen is an accredited indictable offence specialist under the Victorian Bar Indictable Crime Certificate program and a Victoria Legal Aid Trial Preferred Barrister. He is a long-time member of the Criminal Bar Association.
