James FitzGerald practices in criminal law. He regularly appears in the Magistrates Court, County Court and Supreme Court. He conducts committal hearings, contests, trials, plea hearings and other related applications in those courts.

In addition, James has appeared in numerous Court of Appeal applications including, most notably, Green (a pseudonym) v The Queen [2017] VSCA 277.

James holds the Indictable Crime Certificate and is a member of VLA’s Preferred Barrister’s List.
