Profile

Qualifications: Benjamin completed a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), and Masters of Arts at the University of Melbourne in 1982.  He completed a Diploma of Criminology at the University of Melbourne in 1985 and a Master of Laws at Monash University in 1998.

 

 

Experience: Benjamin Lindner has extensive experience in all aspects of the criminal jurisdiction. He appears regularly in criminal trials in the County and Supreme Courts, and also in the Court of Appeal. He appeared in the Supreme Court for one of 12 accused in Victoria’s first trial involving terrorism offences.  He has appeared in the Supreme Court in relation to Orders to Review and Administrative law matters. 

 

Benjamin accepts briefs in all criminal jurisdictions.  He has appeared in numerous trials in matters involving narcotics, fraud, offences of violence (including murder, manslaughter), sexual offences and all indictable offences.  He also appears in committals and coronial inquests.     

 

Advocacy teaching: Benjamin has taught advocacy with the Australian Advocacy Institute since 1998. He has taught Criminal Procedure and Advocacy to law graduates at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law since 1995.  Benjamin has taught advocacy to the members of the Bangladesh Bar Association and to the legal profession in Papua/ New Guinea and Samoa.  He has also participated in teaching advocacy to the Victorian Bar Reader’s Course.

 

Benjamin has been a member of the Criminal Bar Association Committee from 1998- 2011, and is currently a member of the Criminal Bar Association.
