Caroline joined the Victoria Police Force in 1988 and was a serving member for nearly eleven years. Her experience included both general policing duties as well as duties with the then equivalent of the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit. As part of that unit, she was involved in mediation at domestic disputes, interviewing of victims of sexual assault, including the video interviewing of children, and the education of police in the Crimes (Family Violence) Act and domestic violence policy. After leaving the Victoria Police, Caroline completed her Law degree with Honours and was articled to Testart Robinson in Box Hill (now Robinson Gill). Following admission to practice, she was employed in a duty-lawyer capacity, firstly by the Eastern Community Legal Centre, in the Intervention Order program at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court and then by Victoria Legal Aid, Ringwood, in the criminal division. Caroline commenced the Victorian Bar Readers’ Course in September 2003, during which she was mentored by Ms Marylynn Smallwood of Counsel.
